Hounds : The Hound Group includes both Scenthounds, which track their prey by air or ground scent, and Sighthounds, which sight and chase a fleeing animal.
Syringomyelia is a condition where a sac filled with fluid develops in the spinal cord of the dog. This can be due to several different reasons, where the most common one in dogs is a malformation of the Chiari I. In dogs suffering from this type of malformation, the occipital bone is underdeveloped and interferes with the circulation of spinal fluid. This causes fluid to accumulate in the cervical spinal cord of the dog. This is a congenital disease and small dogs are much more at risk than medium sized and big dog breeds. The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is especially plagued by inherited Syringomyelia. If your dog develops Syringomyelia, it can become weak and start moving its limbs and torso in a clumsy fashion. It can also show signs of pain in the neck.

Dental diseases. Since hamsters have constantly growing front teeth (incisors), they occasionally develop overgrown front teeth for a variety of reasons. Incisor overgrowth may be visible as long, crooked, tusk-like projections from the mouth. Chewing on hard objects such as wood or metal may twist and damage the teeth, and increase the risk of overgrowth. Offer your hamster soft chew toys, such as ink-free cardboard, instead of wood to chew on; this may minimize damage to the incisors. Treatment of tooth problems often involves trimming the overgrown teeth back to normal length and/or extracting any infected teeth. If the incisors overgrow severely, the hamster may be unable to eat. Fasting hamsters need immediate care because they can die from bowel upsets with inadequate roughage intake.
